Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper silicate mineral that forms in the oxidation zones of copper ore deposits, often alongside Malachite, Azurite, and Turquoise. Its vivid blue-green color comes directly from its copper content. It's found primarily in Peru, Israel, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the United States (particularly in Arizona and New Mexico). Chrysocolla was used by ancient Egyptians and was reportedly a favorite stone of Cleopatra, who carried it as a talisman of wisdom and diplomacy.
