Howlite is a calcium borosilicate hydroxide mineral found primarily in evaporite deposits in Canada and the United States. It was first described in 1868 by Canadian mineralogist Henry How, after whom it was named. Howlite is naturally white with grey veining, and because it's highly porous, it's often dyed to imitate Turquoise, Lapis Lazuli, and other stones — so it's worth knowing what you're buying. Our Howlite is always natural and undyed.
