The result is a crystal with distinct purple and golden zones. Virtually all natural Ametrine in the world comes from a single mine — the Anahí Mine in Bolivia — making it one of the rarest naturally occurring quartz varieties. The mine has a fascinating history: it was reportedly given as a dowry by a Bolivian princess to a Spanish conquistador in the 17th century.
